Meet Alice – She achieved personal and professional success during a global pandemic

Alice joined Grace as a Technician Specialist in November 2019 shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting a new job at the beginning of a global pandemic can be challenging, but Alice says it was an easy transition.

I love it at Grace. All my supervisors are supportive, helpful, and trust me to get my job done.  I’m fortunate to get to learn from the best colleagues.

In a short time, Alice was promoted to Senior Technician Specialist, received her master’s degree in biochemistry, and moved into the role of Chemist.

Meet Diamond – She started as an Intern

Diamond Thompson, HR Generalist, Curtis Bay, Maryland

Diamond Thompson was finishing up her final year of college when she was given the opportunity to intern with HR at Grace. From there she moved into a part-time position as a Senior HR Coordinator and was recently given full-time responsibility as the HR Generalist at Grace’s site in Curtis Bay, MD.  

Grace has given me the opportunity to grow and develop my strengths as well as overcome my fears. I’m an introvert and my responsibilities here push me out of my comfort zone. It’s been great for me. You don’t usually get this kind of support and encouragement in a corporate environment.

Her first step in overcoming her fears came when she was presenting as an intern before the Grace Leadership Team.  “I was terrified!” she admitted. “But, my leader gave me the best advice.  She said, ‘do the super woman pose’.”

The super woman pose worked so well for Diamond, she’s now soaring full-time at Grace.

Meet Marcio – Grace gave him a voice

Marcio Schneider Pulcini, Manager, Engineering and Maintenance, Sorocaba, Sao Paulo, Brazil

Marcio joined Grace in 2000 as an electronic technician in Sorocaba, Brazil.  

In my 21 years at Grace, I finished my engineering degree, learned from three amazing supervisors, and grown both professionally and personally in each of my roles.

Marcio is now a manager for engineering and maintenance in the Material Technology Plant in South America where they make silica gel for South and Latin America, and other regions.

“Grace takes care of its employees,” expresses Marcio. “We feel protected and listened to. We all have a voice.”

Meet Kerstin – She loves the opportunities a mid-sized company offers

Kerstin Erken came to Grace from a much larger company. It was a much-needed change for her professionally.  As a project manager, she likes the team spirit and access to her leadership. She says it makes Grace and her more successful.

The culture at Grace is different than a larger company. I am a real person here - not just a number. I actually have an impact on the success of this company.

Meet Jim - He enjoys being part of a people first company

Meet Jim Springer, R&D Manager, South Haven, Michigan

Jim joined Grace in June 2021 when Grace acquired Albemarle Fine Chemistry Services business (FCS). He is an R&D Manager responsible for managing new product development and process scale-up projects, which is a perfect role for Jim since what interests him the most is collaborating with others to develop solutions to problems.

Jim says in the short time he has been with Grace, he appreciates the company’s culture.

One of the first things I noticed about Grace is how invested they are in their people. It’s refreshing to work for a company that puts just as much focus on its people as its business.
