Xero Shoes

I’m a firm believer in all things minimalist — like practicing calisthenics instead of weight-lifting, eating whole and natural foods in place of supplements, and often forsaking style for quality, comfortable clothes.

Recently, I was in the market for some multi-purpose footwear for training outdoors in the hot summer months. My pal Al suggested I give the Xero shoes a shot to see if I would enjoy wearing them as much as he does! He is a big advocate of this brand and has been wearing their sandals for several years now, so I decided to give em a go!

Xero shoes come in a variety ofย  different styles and colors of sandals, some even come with a DIY kit so you can customize how you want to tie the straps. I chose their latest style, the Amuri Z-Trek sandal in the Mocha Earth/Coffee Bean color. This particular style doesn’t require much lacing at all, nor do they have the divider between the first two toes which I prefer. They simply have a velcro strap in the back of the heel to adjust the tension.

As soon as they arrived I strapped them to my feet and took these bad boys for a walk around New York City. It was LOVE after first wear! Most shoes require a break-in period, but these required none. They are immediately comfortable! They stayed pretty snug even after my feet began to sweat and I had no blisters after wearing them all day.

If you’re not accustomed to the minimalist sole, it may take a bit to adjust to feeling almost every pebble under your foot. While this seems like a bummer, it mostly just makes you more aware of your gait. I began to walk more evenly and gracefully, becoming much more aware of where I was stepping. Ideally the more you wear them, the stronger your feet will become!

They are lightweight, flexible and super comfortable even while I trained in them. I took a jog in them, and did a few bodyweight exercises like squats and push-ups. The Amuri’s stayed snugly on my feet without me having to adjust them at all. They almost feel like a second skin!

The third and final test was pairing them with a cute outfit! Just because I don’t rock heels, doesn’t mean I don’t like to play dress up! ๐Ÿ˜‰ They totally complimented my favorite summer dress!

I think that girl behind me needs some Xero shoes ๐Ÿ˜‰

If you’re big on minimalist training and gear, then I suggest you give the Xero shoes a shot! The price tag is great and they have a variety of different styles and colors that you can try out! Click the link below to get yourself a pair of quality minimalist kicks and thank me later! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. Awesome review. I am ordering one. I reently started by barefoot/minimalistic adventures. I am still skeptical about the sandals being slippery during summer. Will keep you posted. Peace.

    1. Hey Tin-Tin, thanks so much for reviewing my review! HaHa! I have some pretty sweaty feet but the straps are pretty sturdy and can be adjusted tightly if needed! I hope you like them!
Take care and good luck with your barefoot adventures! ๐Ÿ˜€
