Innovative, Porous Silica Technology

Specifically developed to fulfill the increasing technical challenges of matting coil, industrial and conventional paint systems, the MX generation is based on an innovative, porous silica technology that delivers an environmentally friendly (low VOC) solution in applications where film shrinkage during drying is minimal.

SYLOID® MX silica matting agents provide optimal performance in green, VOC compliant coatings systems as well as traditional systems.

Designed for Difficult-to-Matte Applications

The MX series allows manufacturers to reach a dead matte gloss/low level gloss by using less matting agent. The increased efficiency delivers a much lower matting level for the same amount of unit, driving down costs for raw materials.

Decorative and Trade Paints

In recent years, decorative market VOC-compliant technology has become more important as a result of regulations such as Decopaint Directive (2004/42/EU). This has required the development of formulations with higher binder content and different pigmentation. The SYLOID® MX silica generation does not contain crystalline silica and provides the following decorative and trade paints benefits:
