Moving to a Circular Economy

While the global focus on the circular economy continues to accelerate, the circularity of many of our processes is long-standing. As a leading catalyst manufacturer, we have significant experience returning spent catalysts for reuse. This expertise enables us to identify new opportunities to deliver value to our customers through circular processes.

Here are some examples

  • Equilibrium or "E-cat" catalyst recycling enables the use of spent FCC catalysts for other industrial purposes to reduce landfill use. E-Cat is resold to refineries to replace losses where the feedstock has high concentrations of Nickel, Vanadium or other impurities. Spent FCC is also used as secondary raw material to replace natural materials in other industries, mainly in manmade fiber or insulating material for the stainless-steel industry.
  • Grace has signed agreements to develop two new initiatives to reclaim spent hydroprocessing catalyst metals for reuse in new catalysts.
